With the popularity of smart phones, laptops and other mobile devices, WiFi has become an indispensable part of the home and enterprise networks, and there are many ways to deploy WiFi networks. Among them, through the PoE technology is considered as the most commonly used ways to build enterprise wireless network, this tutorial will be described in detail.
Using PoE technology to power for wireless AP
The easiest way to provide WiFi to mobile devices is to set up a wireless AP on the wall or ceiling (see below), and in addition to access network, wireless AP also need to be powered by power cable to ensure work properly. Now, there are two main ways to power for wireless AP: powered by direct current or remote powered by PoE technology. However, due to the deploy location of wireless AP is very special, powered by a DC power supply does not always work, while PoE technology can use the existing Cat5 or Cat6 of network cable to transmit data signal, and also can send the current to wireless AP, eliminating the need for local power. Now, using PoE technology to power wireless AP is become more and more popular.
